Yoga Day for Military Comunity in Germany
Posted by: Gabriele Evans, RYT 200
Last Saturday we had our first ever Yoga Day USA at the Fitness Center on Patch Barracks in Stuttgart Germany! Four other instructors and I taught classes to soldiers, civilians and their families. We had two classes running simultaneously, each for 45 min, from 10:00hrs to 13:30 hrs ranging from “Yoga for Athletes” to “Yoga for back pain”, Yin yoga inspired class and family yoga. All and all over 120 students, in all shapes and sizes participated. We were all happy and excited to see so many interested in Yoga and willing to spend their Saturday morning in the gym. Since this was the first time to participate I have nothing else to compare it to but it’ was so beautiful to see the peaceful faces after students experience their first Savasana and realizing you don’t have to be young, skinny, super bendy or athletic to take a yoga class. Thank you Yoga Alliance for initiating this great event, it left me feeling light hearted for the rest of the week. Gabriele Evans
