I became a certified yoga instructor 8 years ago and wanted to teach seniors as a volunteer.  When I first introduced yoga to a Senior Center in St. Mary's County, Maryland, there would be, perhaps as many as five or six students, sometimes only one.  Over the years, my classes have grown to more than 30.  I conduct a chair class that is attended by several husband and wife couples, many are in their late seventies and eighties.  One beautiful lady is 92 years old!

In addition to the chair class, I conduct a 'regular yoga class for the more flexible.  Some have been with me since I started 8 years ago.  That class has also grown from just a few to over 20.  I teach in two lovely church halls that consider the classes to be part of an "outreach" program and they do not charge me for using the space, making it possible for me to not charge my students.

At age 67, I cannot explain the enormous joy that sharing the benefits of yoga has brought to my life.  I have seen incredible positive changes in people over the years.  I am thankful every day, for the blessings that I have experienced through this amazingly life altering way of being.

Namaste, Om Shante
